The Hammond B3 Organ is the most famous of the Hammond Organs. Prized for it's unique sound, it was designed by Laurens Hammond in 1934 and though the last electromechanical B3s were produced in the mid 1970's there is still a huge demand for the warm, rich tones these organs produce. While many software designers have dedicated their skills to recreating the tones of these amazing organs, none can compare to the rich, lush sound of the original. |

The Leslie Speaker (speaker cones pictured here) is an amplifier/loudspeaker with a characteristic sound which comes from using the Doppler effect (the speaker cones rotate while producing sound). These speakers are prized for their rich and unique tone, and though the Leslie speaker and Hammond Organ have never been sold as a unit, they are so commonly combined that the sound of the Leslie speaker has become synonomous with our idea of the B3 organ tone. |
