Product Detail

Fender Stratocaster (Japanese) (prop)

SKU:   2274
The difference between Japanese, Korean, American, and Mexican Fender Strats.Fender Strats have been made in the US, Japan, Korea and Mexico. Fender also owns the Squier name. Under the Squier name there have been Strats made in Japan (started in 1982), Korea (late 80s) Mexico (90s), Indonesia and China. Adding some confusion, Fender had some of the Squier Strats bear a Large Fender logo and at the upper part of the headstock said Squier Series in small letters. Those were made in Korea and Mexico. For the actual Fender line (not Squier), the US and the US Custom Shop are the top of the line in sound and quality. With perhaps an exception for the CBS era guitars. Quality dropped during the CBS era. Fender opened operations (actually started using plants in Japan that had been doing Strat clones) in the early 80s. These guitars are generally referred to as the E series because the serial number begins with an E. These are excellent guitars. The tone of the pickups is vintage Fender US. T
